Frequently Asked Questions about Organza
What is the difference between organza and chiffon?
Organza is stiff and stable, while chiffon is soft flowing and more elastic. Organza is suitable for voluminous designs, chiffon for flowing silhouettes.
Does organza fray heavily?
Yes, the cut edges unravel very quickly and must be finished immediately. A French seam is ideal for enclosing the edges cleanly.
Can you dye organza?
Only organza made from real silk can be dyed well. Polyester organza hardly absorbs conventional textile dyes - special polyester dyes are needed for this.
