Sewing Tips for Brocade
Prevent fraying: Brocade frays heavily especially at cross cuts. Finish edges immediately after cutting with zigzag stitch or edge finish. Cut with sharp scissors in small cuts to minimize fraying.
Use fine needles and tools: Use extra-thin pins (0.4 mm) and thin sewing needles. Watch for rough fingernails that can tear delicate threads. Use normal tailor's chalk without sharp teeth for marking.
Pre-wash blended fabrics: Polyester brocade does not need pre-washing. Viscose blends should be washed in lukewarm bath and air dried, as viscose can shrink slightly.
