SnapPap - The Washable Paper with Leather Look

SnapPap is a unique leather-look paper made from a paper-plastic mixture (cellulose and latex) that can be washed in the washing machine. It is 100% vegan and also known as vegan leather. The cellulose content is over 60 percent and comes from sustainably managed European coniferous forests. SnapPap has been manufactured in southern Germany for 60 years and is Made in Germany.

Properties of SnapPap

  • Combines advantages of paper and fabric - absolutely tear-resistant
  • Can be processed without finishing and doesn't fray
  • Surface is abrasion-resistant and doesn't form lint or pilling
  • Becomes soft after washing with leather-like, crinkled appearance
  • Contains no PVC, BPA or pentachlorophenol - environmentally friendly

Care Instructions

1 Washable up to 60 degrees in the washing machine
2 Tumble dryer safe - can be dried in the dryer without concern
3 Use normal detergent but no fabric softener
4 For stronger leather look, lightly crumple after washing

Sewing Tips for SnapPap

Wash before sewing - this makes the material softer and easier to work with

Use standard universal machine needles and normal sewing thread

Use Wonder Clips instead of pins (like with felt or faux leather)

Frequently Asked Questions about SnapPap

Are there different SnapPap variants?
Yes! Besides SnapPap classic, there is SnapPap Plus (softer, finer texture), SnapPap effect (not washable, with metallic lamination) and SnapPap design (with patterns). SnapPap Plus is particularly suitable for soft, flexible projects.
Can you plot and print on SnapPap?
Yes, SnapPap can be decorated in many ways: plotting, printing, painting, stamping, embossing, punching, dyeing and even lasering. For plotting and printing, don't wash the material beforehand - the result is better on unwashed material.
How thick is SnapPap?
SnapPap has a uniform thickness of 0.55 mm. There are no different thicknesses available. If you need it to be sturdier, e.g. for straps and handles, cut it double and sew layers together.
